VIDEO: Andrew Shaw has 'slip of the tongue' in postgame interview
Andrew Shaw was excited after ending Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final in triple OT. So excited that he had a little slip on national TV.
You couldn't blame Blackhawks forward Andrew Shaw for being a little excited after Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final. The rookie had just scored the game-winner in the third overtime period to give his Hawks an early 1-0 lead in the series.
Being the star of the game means you get to do the postgame interviews. Right away. What resulted was an entrant into the "When live TV goes bad" Hall of Fame. (NSFW WARNING: Language.)
"Slip of the tongue," Shaw said after the game, smiling. "I couldn't think at all actually. Could barely breathe. I think I made up a word in there, too, actually. I was never good in English."
The good news is that the game went on so long, I think this falls into the Safe Harbor zone for NBC. The benefits of going triple overtime, I suppose.
