The NHL will surely be reviewing that play on Thursday. Given that there was contact with the head, Marchand appeared to be injured, and Volchenkov has a history (he was suspended three games for elbowing Zach Boychuk back in February, 2011), he could be facing some supplemental discipline from the league.
The Devils, who were trailing 4-1 at the time, ended up getting a shorthanded goal from Travis Zajac to cut the deficit in half.
