The Chicago Blackhawks will bring back the black jerseys the team used to wear as their alternates in the mid-1990s and early 2000s when they take on the Pittsburgh Penguins at Soldier Field Mar. 1. Aside from the chrome-style logo, the jerseys don’t stray too far from a traditional look.

Of all the chrome logos the NHL has unveiled as part of the Stadium Series, the Blackhawks one seems the most unnatural. One of the most iconic logos in all of sports, it looks a bit cheap with the chrome treatment against a black jersey.

Patrick Sharp and Andrew Shaw modeled the jerseys here.

So not all the Stadium Series threads are all that great, but there’s nothing wrong with experimentation. As long as you can see the numbers clearly in person and on TV, I suppose that’s enough.
