VIDEO: Dale Weise sneaks to back post, opens Game 7 scoring
The Montreal Canadiens grabbed an early Game 7 lead in Boston when Daniel Briere found Dale Weise all alone on the back post for an easy goal.
The Canadiens got the all-important first goal of the game just a few minutes in thanks to Weise.
Well really it should be thanks to Brandon Prust and Daniel Briere. Prust chased hard on the forecheck and won the puck before passing it on to Briere. Then Mr. Playoffs looked up and found a wide open Weise on the back door, completely unmarked. It was a good find and a very good pass but it was also too easy.
That's the price of puck-watching as Bruins defenseman Matt Bartkowski was doing right in front of the crease. He nor anybody else noticed Weise sneak in behind and get right to the blue paint unhindered. It's those kinds of mistakes that cost teams Game 7s.
For Weise it was his third goal of the playoffs and fifth overall point. We're sure he'll let Milan Lucic know about it at some point, too.
By the way, the team that scores the first goal is 6-0 so far in this series.
