VIDEO: Flyers' Steve Mason robs Beau Bennett with amazing save

It’s the end of the year, meaning time is running out for players to turn in their save, goal, hit, whatever of the year. Philadelphia Flyers goalie Steve Mason has a submission.

With the game tied 1-1 in the second period, Pittsburgh Penguins defenseman Kris Letang sent a routine shot on the net. Mason had to find it in traffic, but had trouble controlling the rebound. The loose puck ended up getting pushed right to the stick of the hard-charging Beau Bennett, who seemingly had most of the net to shoot at on his backhand. Nope.

Mason stretched out with everything he had to get a piece of that puck and ended up stopping it with his arm and covering it up.

Bennett looked on in utter disbelief after missing that wide-open chance.

I don’t think this is going to be the save of the year, -- there are a lot of candidates this year -- but it’s a great one and should make one of those end-of-season highlight videos. What a stop.
