VIDEO: Gabriel Landeskog scores after incredible passing play
Gabriel Landeskog finished off an incredible passing play by Avalanche teammates Nathan MacKinnon and Paul Stastny to give Colorado a 3-1 lead over Minnesota.
The Colorado Avalanche may have found the perfect combination for their first line. Paul Stastny centering Gabriel Landeskog and Nathan MacKinnon is a rousing success through two games in the playoffs. They added yet another highlight to their growing reel and we’re only in Game 2.
The third goal the Avs scored Saturday night against the Minnesota Wild should probably be hung in a museum. All three forwards got a touch on the puck, with MacKinnon and Stastny delivering artistic passes and Landeskog just finishing it off into the open net.
MacKinnon broke for the Wild zone and took a pass from Tyson Barrie. It was slightly behind him, so MacKinnon corralled it between his legs and off the boards before he was off to the races. He then sent a drop pass between the legs of Wild defenseman Jared Spurgeon and right onto the stick of Stastny. The Colorado center spun away from another defender to deliver a backhanded pass to Landeskog who sent the puck into the yawning net with one touch.
Did you follow all that? I hope so, because it was incredible.
The line also accounted for the first two goals of the game. MacKinnon scored the first in incredible fashion, then set up the second goal, which also was scored by Landeskog MacKinnon now has a goal and five assists through two games after this play. He’s 18, you know.
The third goal chased Wild netminder Ilya Bryzgalov from the game and put the Avs in a good spot with a 3-1 lead in Game 2.
The Avs have had their share of doubters, but there’s no question this is a highly-skilled team that can be an absolute blast to watch. This goal was just another great example of how fun.
