VIDEO: Gustav Nyquist wins Game 2 in overtime for Red Wings
Detroit Red Wings forward Gustav Nyquist scored the game-winning goal in overtime of Game 2 against the Anaheim Ducks.
The Detroit Red Wings didn't make it easy for themselves on Thursday night.
After letting a three-goal third period lead disappear over the final 15 minutes of regulation, Gustav Nyquist helped the Red Wings take advantage of a late Anaheim penalty to score the game-winning goal in overtime to even their Western Conference quarterfinal series at one.
While Nyquist is the guy that actually put the puck in the net, the play was made almost entirely by an incredible play Valtteri Filppula to set him up.
Shortly after Anaheim's Bobby Ryan tied the game late in the third period, Pavel Datsyuk had a great chance to put Detroit back in front only to be robbed by Jonas Hiller as he made a sprawling stick save along the goal line. But that sequence ended up working out in Detroit's favor as Anaheim defenseman Sheldon Souray took a slashing penalty that carried over into the overtime period where Nyquist and the Red Wings took advantage.
