VIDEO: Joel Quenneville shows disapproval of call with crotch grab
Blackhawks coach Joel Quenneville gestured to the officials after they appeared to have missed a call against the St. Louis Blues for delay of game. Cameras were on the coach.
The Chicago Blackhawks believed they deserved a two-man advantage when a St. Louis Blues defenseman seemed to send a puck over the glass in the defensive zone. The Blues were already killing a delay of game penalty drawn in similar fashion.
The Blackhawks were emphatic, none moreso than head coach Joel Quenneville. When the referees opted not to call a penalty, Quenneville showed his disapproval in rather boisterous fashion, adding an exclamation point by grabbing his crotch. Needless to say, that is probably going to be viewed as an obscene gesture by the league, which could lead to a fine for Mr. Quenneville. The game was an emotional one and it was a crucial call in that situation, with the Blackhawks having a big opportunity. That probably won’t matter to the league, considering it was caught on camera for a live national television audience.
