VIDEO: Johnny Gaudreau, Drew Shore score nasty goals at Worlds
Both Drew Shore and Johnny Gaudreau scored on Tuesday for Team USA against Germany. The question is which amazing goal was better.
In the Americans' 5-4 win over Germany, it was almost as if Shore (Florida Panthers prospect) and Gaudreau (Calgary Flames prospect and reigning Hobey Baker Award winner) were having a battle to see who could score the prettier goal.
Both nominations are top notch.
In the video above you can see Shore bearing down Constantin Braun and toward the net. Braun does a pretty good job of taking away the inside on Shore, but with an awesome move through his own legs, Shore was still able to get by Braun and eventually score.
Let's watch that one again in slo-mo (via @MyRegularFace).
Hoo boy, was that nice. Shore isn't known for being an offensive genius but you can't tell on that one.
Somebody who is known for his offensive abilities? Gaudreau. He saw Shore's goal and tried his best to one-up it (via Puck Daddy).
Poor Braun, victimized again. He shouldn't feel too bad, though; Johnny Hockey has already abused a lot of defensemen and will only continue doing so at the NHL level. He has some serious talent, something the Flames have to be over the moon about.
The United States improved to 5-2-1 after the complete of Pool play and they will move on to the knockout rounds, searching for a medal in a second straight year. The Americans didn't send over a squad with much NHL experience or star talent but instead opted for a young squad with the nation's up-and-coming stars. Based on these two goals, America's hockey future looks pretty bright.
