VIDEO: Jonathan Quick stretches out for save to push Game 7 to OT
Game 7 of the Western Conference finals needed overtime thanks in part to Jonathan Quick keeping it a tie game with a save in the dying seconds of regulation.
Game 7 of the Western Conference finals needed overtime to settle matters on Sunday night -- because of course it did -- but the game was so close to being decided in the final seconds of regulation.
Thankfully for LA, Jonathan Quick was up to the task with a tremendous stretch to keep the Blackhawks off the board and keep the game going. It certainly was not a good first 60 minutes for Quick (nor a particularly good series) but that was a great save, made greater by the timing and circumstances.
As a result, hockey fans were treated with the first OT in Game 7 of a conference final since 1994 and the famous "Matteau! Matteau! Matteau!" goal ... which helped the Rangers to win the Stanley Cup. This year's Stanley Cup participant from the East? The Rangers. Bizarre.
