VIDEO: Lightning score terrible own goal to tie game late vs. Blackhawks
Lightning defensemen Matt Carle and Radko Gudas combined for a tying goal with less than two minutes on Thursday night ... an own goal. The Bolts still won, though.
Officially the goal went down as an unassisted tally for Jonathan Toews but really, we all know who this one belongs to. Take a bow, Carle and Gudas. We won't blame on goalie Ben Bishop as why on earth would he be expecting that to be on net.
The positive news for the Lightning? At least they won the game in overtime, 6-5. It means that in two games this season against Chicago the Lightning were outshot 80-39 yet came away 2-0-0. Hockey man, it's crazy sometimes. Really crazy, right Bolts fans? (Hey, we can laugh about it now, they won.)
We're just going to dub this the year of the own goal because it seems every day we have another simply atrocious mistake to go to the blooper reel. Scoring is already up this season, guys, the other teams don't need any more help.
