VIDEO: Linesman ends up on Canadiens bench after check
Linesman Scott Cherrey tried to get out of the way but a hit from Anthony Peluso on Alexei Emelin resulted in Cherrey landing butt first on the Habs bench.
From time to time in the NHL you'll see a good hit along the boards by the benches result in a player being knocked off the ice and onto the bench. Sometimes it's on the friendly bench, sometimes the opposing bench.
It's much more rare to see an official get checked into the bench, most because touching officials is frowned upon. But in the case of linesman Scott Cherrey, he was the casualty of a hit from the Jets' Anthony Peluso on the Canadiens' Alexei Emelin.
Trying to get out of the way, Cherrey took a seat on the dasher but Emelin then knocked Sherrey right into the Montreal bench, rear first.
The Habs wasted no time in getting Sherrey back on the ice, the players obviously taking the rare chance to give an official a shove.
