VIDEO: Martin St. Louis given Broadway Hat after emotional night
Martin St. Louis had a difficult couple of days after his mother's death but he had a lot of support in Friday's game, a Rangers win, and was given the Broadway Hat afterward.
The Rangers' dressing room was a bit more emotional than normal on Friday night. For starters, they stayed alive in their pursuit of the Stanley Cup by defeating the Penguins in Pittsburgh.
And of course there was Martin St. Louis playing on a heavy heart. The Rangers forward lost his mother before the game but still went through with playing and actually had a pretty strong game, as did the rest of the team.
So after the game when it came time for Marc Staal to hand out the Broadway Hat to the Rangers' player of the game, it wasn't much of a surprise who got it; St. Louis.
He graciously took the hat and thanked his teammates for all of their support through this incredibly trying time. He then finished his duties as the Broadway Hat wearer by posting the sixth piece of the Stanley Cup puzzle on the wall, another of the Rangers' traditions this postseason.
Before the game Sidney Crosby came by the Rangers' area to console St. Louis and then during the game the Rangers showed their forward some love, including Derick Brassard on the bench (via @MyRegularFace).
No doubt it's been an incredibly difficult couple of days for St. Louis but the support from his teammates and even his foes must be awfully comforting.
Finally was the postgame interview, which was equally emotional.
