VIDEO: Mike Green scores only goal in OT as Capitals win Game 2
It took nearly 70 minutes for a goal to be scored Saturday between the Capitals and Rangers. It was a Mike Green power-play strike for the win.
It was on the power play that Caps defenseman Mike Green, who led all NHL defensemen in goals this season, blasted a shot past Henrik Lundqvist from the high slot to give the Caps a 1-0 win and a 2-0 series lead.
"I tried to get over the puck," Green said. "Before that it kind of opened up a little bit. Mike gets the puck, makes a great read. I knew he was passing before he even wound up. So I got set up and made sure I just got it through. Lundqvist couldn't see so I got lucky."
Lucky or not, it was the only shot to hit the inside of the cage all afternoon, making Lundqvist the hard-luck loser.
