VIDEO: Mike Milbury on Wings' slow start: 'Blame it on the wives'
The Detroit Red Wings found themselves down 3-0 not even five minutes into the game on Sunday against Chicago. Mike Milbury blamed their wives.
Another NHL on NBC broadcast -- another instance of Mike Milbury saying something regrettable.
It's worth mentioning that this game was Detroit's first back at home since going on a West Coast road trip. So perhaps the early start time combined with some level of jet lag could be used as an excuse if you were so inclined to try to excuse the behavior.
Milbury instead decided to blame it on the wives of the Detroit players. You know. those wives. Always demanding their hubbies do everything when they get back from road trips.
I am not sold that Milbury wasn't speaking tongue in cheek here or not and was just using it as an illustration of how tough it is to get back from long road trips, but he could have chosen a better way to express that difficulty. A much better way.
I think we can now add hockey wives to the list of people who dislike Milbury. I suppose that's a win for NBC, right? We always seem to talk about him.
