More NHL offseason: Rumors | Top 50 Free Agents | Buyout Tracker | Trades | Transactions

It's that time of year where NHL players are spending more time on the golf course than the rinks. But they have to stay sharp, even star players like Jonathan Toews, so why not do both at once?

Toews, back in his hometown of Winnipeg, was taking part in a golf tournament along with Jets defenseman Zach Bogosian, former Jets star Dale Hawerchuk and Jets broadcaster Shane Hnidy. Apparently the conversation on the course got heated because the four NHL stars teamed up to take on four PGA Tour Canada pros in a game of stick hockey. On grass.

Well, this is a new level of shame for NHL players, isn't it? Losing a game of ball hockey -- any kind of hockey -- to golfers? GOLFERS? I mean, did you see Toews' five hole? Maybe these guys need to work more on their hockey skills in the summer, not their golf scores.

Must have been that stupid shootout.
