VIDEO: Roberto Luongo to wear special Movember mask
Vancouver Canucks goalie Roberto Luongo is getting in the Movember spirit in a different way: by wearing a special mustachioed mask that will be auctioned off.
The month of November has become synonymous with mustaches in the NHL. After October and the cancer awareness campaign, specifically for breast cancer, November has been renamed Movember where guys grow mustaches in the name of charity for men's health issues. For example, Alex Ovechkin has teamed up with Gillette this year in his mustache endeaver.
Indeed, it's become a big deal all across the league and it's pretty hilarious to see some of the muzzies that players grow, especially in the early going. Let's face it; not every guy looks good in a mustache (present company included).
Luongo, who has become very comfortable with images of Johnny Canuck on his mask in recent years, is keeping with the Johnny Canuck look and adding a big ol' mustache to the chin. The best part? When the month is done Luongo is going to get money for charity by auctioning off the mask.
We'd call it the cheap way out but hey, as long as he's raising money for a good cause we won't knock the guy. It's actually pretty awesome to see a unique way of joining the Movember cause.
