VIDEO: Ryane Clowe gets his first goal with the Rangers

When he was a member of the San Jose Sharks, Ryane Clowe had the most shots on goal in the league without actually scoring. He's proven throughout his career to be a better player than that and it was only a matter of time until he scored.

It took Clowe less than 15 minutes to get his first goal of the season in his debut game with the New York Rangers, and he received a nice assist from Penguins defenseman Brooks Orpik.

And then he added another one in the second period. After the trade, I guessed that if Clowe kept generating shots at the same pace he did in San Jose he could probably finish the season with around three or four goals for the Rangers. It took less than two periods to nearly reach that.

The Rangers went on to beat the Penguins 6-1.

Of course this offensive outburst from the Rangers came right after I argued that their recent trades weren't going to boost their slumping offense, and just about all of the new guys had a hand in it. I'm still not convinced the Rangers are a better team, but for one night, the new guys made a difference.
