VIDEO: Team Finland shows how not to make a line change
Team Finland is tuning up for the World Championships, perhaps more than anything else they should focus on their line changes after this mess.
Nothing can upset a coach, fans or players quite like a bad line change. Often it's just a mindless mistake that leads to a penalty.
But sometimes a change is so bad all you can do is laugh. This Finnish line change in a World Championships tuneup is one of those kinds of changes. Let's marvel at the mistakes in GIF form because the loop means endless comedy (via sknazivo.com).
It all begins with a door opening that wasn't expected and it ends with three players falling flat on their faces in a matter of seconds. First to the bench is Teuvo Teravainen, the Blackhawks prospect. He tried to hop onto the bench when the door suddenly opened, much to his surprise. Then former Leaf Leo Komarov approached the now open door to get in but fell over the fallen Teravainen.
Just to make matters worse (or better), Tom Huhtala is trying to go the other way, get on the ice, and he too gets caught up in this cluster at the door, causing him to fall on the ice. He at least saved some of his dignity by popping right up and skating away. You could probably say it was a bit of karma for Huhtala for opening the door on Teravainen in the first place.
But kids, this is not how you execute a line change. Take notes and do the opposite.
