VIDEO: Tim Thomas suffers injury to lower body on Braydon Coburn goal
Panthers goalie Tim Thomas started on Tuesday night but couldn't finish after suffering a lower-body injury on the Flyers' second goal of the game.
The Flyers scored two goals on Thomas in the first 10 minutes of the game, both of the same variety. Each time shots went wide of the net and bounced back with force, leaving the net free for at first a Brayden Schenn goal and then the second one from Braydon Coburn.
It was on the second goal that something didn't seem right. Thomas looked to be stuck on the ice and was unable to get back in position in time to stop a floater from Coburn. It sure looked like something wasn't right and as soon as the goal went in, Thomas skated to the bench and essentially pulled himself before walking down the tunnel.
Thomas didn't return to the bench for the remainder of the period and after the period the Panthers said Thomas was out simply with a lower-body injury.
Dale Tallon confirms that #FlaPanthers are flying G Scott Clemmensen to Tampa to meet team...Says doesn't think Tim Thomas injury is serious— George Richards (@GeorgeRichards) October 9, 2013
There was definitely something wrong there because that had no business going in. Once again, Jacob Markstrom will have his chance to take the bull by the horns and grab the goaltending job. Remember, Scott Clemmensen is in the AHL at the moment and can be called up if necessary.
Nobody ever said it would be easy on the body after coming back from a year off at age 39.
