WATCH: 7,000 teddy bears rain down after Bakersfield Condors goal
The Bakersfield Condors' annual Teddy Bear Toss was a huge hit this year with more than 7,000 plush toys hitting the ice after Chase Schaber scored 1;38 into the game.
It’s the holiday season, so that can only mean one thing across the minor league and junior hockey landscape: It’s Teddy Bear Toss time. The Bakerfield Condors of the ECHL led things off this year with a Teddy Bear Toss Night against the Utah Grizzlies.
It only took 1:38 for Bakersfield to score, actually on a beautiful goal by Chase Schaber. Then the teddy bears came raining down en masse.
According to Yahoo Sports’ Puck Daddy Blog, the Condors collected 7,358 stuffed animals from the ice and have seen 95,567 plush toys rain down over 16 years of this promotion.
There’s already a high bar set for this year for all of the other teams that will be holding Teddy Bear tosses this year, but something tells me the WHL’s Calgary Hitmen are already prepping the Saddledome ice for a fluffy monsoon this year.
