WATCH: Cowboy hat makes Tyler Seguin's latest hat trick memorable
A Dallas Stars fan sent his cowboy hat to the ice after Tyler Seguin netted his third hat trick of the year.
After netting three Thursday night against the Vancouver Canucks, Tyler Seguin has three hat tricks this season. A hat trick of hat tricks, if you will. So, naturally, Thursday in Dallas was a momentous occasion. Lucky for Seguin and the Stars, Conrad Shindler was more than happy to make the ceremonial tossing of the hats to the ice just a little more memorable.
Shindler, a Stars fan, just so happened to be wearing his black cowboy hat to the game that night. Now, if you buy into stereotypes of cowboys, you’d probably assume the hat is sacred. So it must have been hard for Shindler to part with, right? Not by the looks of this video.
He got some good distance on that one.
But the fun didn’t stop there. Linesman Derek Amell, looking rather amused by the whole thing, picked up that hat and briefly placed it on his helmeted head. Laughs were had by all.
As you may know, hats thrown to the ice for hat tricks are often amassed in large bags and usually sit in the hallway. Some teams have different policies, but more often than not, you’re kissing that hat good bye once you throw it to the ice. Not Shindler, though. Nope. Thanks to the penalty box attendant, he got his hat back.
Seguin also had two assists on the night and now has 63 points in 61 games this season.
