WATCH: Lightning, Canucks notch three goals in 30-second span
Tampa Bay and Vancouver momentarily forgot how to play defense in yesterday's game.
With so many sporting distractions on New Year’s Day (numerous bowl games, the Winter Classic, hangovers), Tampa Bay and Vancouver could’ve easily been an afterthought. Thanks to a second-period scoring flurry, that was hardly the case.
Valtteri Filppula sniped a goal for Tampa with 4:33 left in the second to even the game at 1-1.
Twenty seconds later, the Lightning took the lead off a pretty two-on-one breakaway, finished off by Tyler Johnson.
That lead was short-lived, however, as Vancouver’s Zac Dalpe responded with his first goal of the year, fourteen seconds later.
Take that, you aesthetically pleasing Winter Classic.
