World Junior Championship: Boone Jenner ejected for late hit
Canada's Boone Jenner was ejected for a late hit during team Canada's final tune-up game for the World Junior Championships. He could be facing a suspension from the IIHF for the hit.
Canada played its final tune-up game Saturday before the start of next week's World Junior Championship in Ufa, Russia, and it may have cost them one of their forwards.
Boone Jenner was ejected and could be facing a suspension from the IIHF for a late hit on Sweden's Jesper Pettersson.
Here is a look at the hit:
The hit was clearly late and seemed to be at least a full second after Pettersson no longer had the puck. Pettersson was injured on the play and left the arena in an ambulance. According to Team Sweden he suffered a dislocated shoulder and fractured wrist.
He is done for the tournament.
Jenner was a second-round draft pick by the Columbus Blue Jackets in 2011 and has spent the past four years playing for the Oshawa Generals of the Ontario Hockey League. In 32 games with the Generals during the 2012-13 season he's scored 27 goals to go with 20 assists.
He doesn't exactly have a clean track record when it comes to discipline as he was suspended during last year's World Junior Championship for a spearing incident against Russia.
