Zac Rinaldo suspended four games for hit to head of Chad Ruhwedel
Flyers forward Zac Rinaldo will miss the rest of the regular season, the result of a suspension for his hit on Sunday night to Sabres defenseman Chad Ruhwedel.
The hit in question for Rinaldo came on Sunday night at home against Buffalo. Immediately upon seeing the hit, just about every hockey fan's reaction was simply: how many games? It was that bad and that obvious with Rinaldo picking the head of Sabres defenseman Chad Ruhwedel.
Rinaldo is no stranger to mixing it up. He's small but scrappy and one of the tougher guys in the league. With that also comes the fact that he plays on the edge sometimes and there's no debating that in this case, he crossed that edge. Prior to this hit he had been suspended once and fined twice in his NHL career as well.
Add Ruhwedel's injury to the fact that it was clearly a poor hit right to the head and you arrive at a punishment of four games, or the final games of the regular season. Frankly, Rinaldo should be happy that's all the suspension is.
Rinaldo has just two goals and two assists this season in 67 games while ranking fourth in the NHL with 153 minutes in penalties.
