  • Islanders' Thomas Greiss: Posts second straight shutout

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(1/20/17) Greiss stopped all 23 shots and even collected an assist on Calvin de Haan's empty-netter in Thursday's 3-0 win over Dallas.

It's a rare fantasy league that rewards goalies for getting on the scoresheet, but if you happen to own Greiss in such a format, you're surely a happy camper after this one. That's especially the case after Greiss shut out the Bruins in his last start. He's quietly been one of the best goalies in the league over his last 10 games, posting a 6-2-2 record with a 1.89 GAA and .942 save percentage despite facing an average of 33 shots per contest.

Islanders' Thomas Greiss: Home clash with Stars on tap

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(1/19/17) Greiss will command the crease Thursday as the home starter versus Dallas.

Make that eight consecutive starts for Greiss -- who has fashioned a respectable 2.27 GAA and .930 save mark over that span, and even includes a seven-goal implosion when he was stuck in the vortex of Carolina's Hurricane last Saturday. Next up is a Stars team that ranked 10th in the league by means of averaging 2.61 goals per game on the road.

Islanders' Thomas Greiss: Makes 32 saves to blank Bruins

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(1/16/17) Greiss saved all 32 shots he faced during Monday's win over Boston.

After a seven-goal drubbing from Carolina on Saturday, this was exactly what fantasy owners -- and the Islanders -- were looking for from Greiss. Saturday's rough outing aside, he has posted a high-end .931 save percentage through 20 games and emerged as a solid fantasy option. While there could be plenty of peaks and valleys behind the basement-dwelling Islanders, Greiss is worth starting in the majority of matchups in seasonal leagues.

Islanders' Thomas Greiss: Will start in goal Monday

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(1/16/17) Greiss will tend twine in Monday's game in Boston, Fluto Shinzawa of the Boston Globe reports.

The 30-year-old has been solid this season with a .921 save percentage and 2.54 GAA. He's been just a shade lower than that in his last six games, with a .918 save percentage and 2.65 GAA. The Bruins are second in the league in shots per game with 34, so Greiss will need to weather a storm in Monday's game.

Islanders' Thomas Greiss: Allows seven tallies before early exit

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(1/14/17) Greiss saved 36 of 43 shots before being pulled late in the third period of Saturday's loss to Carolina.

This was the second road start in consecutive nights for Greiss, which is never a favorable fantasy spot. He had allowed two goals or fewer in each of his previous seven outings with a .948 save percentage and 1.68 GAA, so chalking this rough outing up to the challenging workload is encouraged. Greiss has been solid for New York and fantasy owners the past two seasons, and he's a middling No. 2 goalie for your virtual club now that he's receiving the bulk of starts for the Islanders.

  • April 5, 2015: Pens' Greiss Allows Four In Loss
Greiss allowed four goals on 20 shots in Sunday's 4-1 loss to the Flyers.Making the start on the second end of a back-to-back set, Greiss didn't have a strong outing despite facing a relatively light workload. It's the 29-year-old's third loss in his last four starts, and with the Penguins fighting to stay in the playoffs with just three games remaining, Marc-Andre Fleury figures to receive the starting nod the rest of the way.
