Staal has ninth career SH goal: Jordan Staal scored short-handed and the Penguins wrapped up Anaheim's winless four-game road trip by beating the Ducks 5-2 on Monday night. Staal answered Todd Marchant's short-handed goal by taking Deryk Engelland's lead pass and beating Jean-Sebastien Giguere high to the sick side about four minutes into the second, his ninth career short-handed goal. He also had an assist and finished at plus-3.

Fantasy Analysis

Staal has just two short-handed scores since totaling seven as a rookie in 2006-07. He has kind of regressed a bit in his career, but he did show some hope in 2008-09 with a career-high 49 points. Staal really plays well on a line with Evgeni Malkin, but Pittsburgh moves him around because they love his versatility. Staal remains a low-end Fantasy forward and flier in leagues that reward heavily for short-handed stats.
