  • Sharks' Marc-Edouard Vlasic: Grabs two points in Game 5 win

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(5/23/16) Vlasic scored a goal and added an assist as the Sharks doubled up the Blues 6-3 in Game 5 on Monday.

The man they call "Pickles" got back on the scoresheet after being held pointless in his last four, and is now up to 10 in 17 games this postseason. Before the dry spell, Vlasic enjoyed a five-game point streak in Round 2 against Nashville, so he's been very much an important piece of the Sharks' blue line -- both offensively and defensively -- throughout the playoffs. Also, although offensive dynamo Brent Burns receives the bulk of the fanfare when it comes to San Jose's defense corps, Vlasic leads the team with a plus-12 rating and is a major stabilizing force in front of goaltender Martin Jones.

Sharks' Marc-Edouard Vlasic: Will return for Game 1

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(4/12/16) Vlasic (lower body) will return to action Thursday for Game 1 of San Jose's first-round playoff series against the Kings, NHL.com's Eric Gilmore reports.

Vlasic's return to action couldn't come at a better time for San Jose, as the Sharks will hope that the 29-year-old blueliner can be a key contributor in the team's tough first-round matchup with the Kings. The 2005 second-round pick has been great this season, notching eight goals and 31 assists with a plus-15 rating over 67 games. Those participating in playoff pools should definitely take a look at Vlasic when making their selections.

Sharks' Marc-Edouard Vlasic: Says he'll be ready

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(4/11/16) Vlasic (lower body) says he will "be ready" for Thursday's game 1 matchup with the Kings, Kevin Kurz of CSN Bay Area reports.

Unless materializes suggesting otherwise, those playing in playoff pools should draft the blueliner as if he was to be healthy for Game 1. The team should update his status as the week progresses, but all signs now point to him playing Thursday.

Sharks' Marc-Edouard Vlasic: Not playing Saturday

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(4/8/16) Despite an earlier report that suggested he may return for Saturday's regular-season finale, Vlasic (lower body) will actually miss the contest, Kevin Kurz of CSN Bay Area reports.

There is a silver lining to the report, however, as he's expected to be ready for the team's first playoff game. While that doesn't do much for people finishing out their fantasy playoffs, those participating in playoff pools shouldn't hesitate to grab him. Vlasic, who owns 39 points through 67 games this season, should also provide an added boost to the Sharks as they attempt to buck the trend of an early playoff departure.

Sharks' Marc-Edouard Vlasic: Might play in final game Saturday

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(4/7/16) Vlasic (lower body) has a chance to play in Saturday's regular-season finale against the Coyotes, Curtis Pashelka of the San Jose Mercury News reports.

CSN Bay Area reports that Vlasic returned to the ice for practice last Saturday, adding that the defenseman would prefer to draw into a game before the playoffs begin. Still, it wouldn't be all that surprising if the Sharks don't turn to Pickles until the postseason.

  • April 7, 2015: Sharks Shutter Vlasic For Season
Vlasic (lower body) will not play in the Sharks' final two games of the regular season, David Pollak of the San Jose Mercury News reports.Vlasic was still walking with a limp due to the injury as of Monday, and with the Sharks already eliminated from playoff contention, there's not much sense in the blueliner risking further injury heading into the offseason. Though he's finish the season with 11 fewer games played than a year earlier, he'll finish with only one fewer point (23) and four more goals (nine).
March 28, 2015: Sharks' Vlasic Leaves Game With Injury
Vlasic left Saturday's game against the Flyers with an undisclosed injury, Kevin Kurz of CSN Bay Area reports. It's not clear what resulted in Vlasic's removal from the game, but he's been unable to take a shift since the 15:53 mark of the first period. The Sharks are viewing him as questionable to return, but the team seems more likely to exercise precaution. Consider him day-to-day until more information is revealed.
