  • Blue Jackets' Jack Johnson: Could see reduced minutes in final games

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(4/8/17) Johnson might have his ice time reduced over the final two games of the regular season, Tom Reed of The Columbus Dispatch reports.

The Blue Jackets' depth on the blue line has been tested down the stretch with both Zach Werenski (shoulder) and Ryan Murray (hand) sidelined, and now that their first-round playoff matchup is set in stone, coach John Tortorella may want to give his key defensemen a bit of a break prior to their postseason showdown with the Penguins. Johnson has carried a heavy load this season, averaging 21:47 a night, and if Werenski can't return for the start of the playoffs that ice time will probably increase with Johnson and David Savard forming the Jackets' most reliable defensive duo. Getting fewer shifts this weekend might help keep some pep in Johnson's postseason step.

Blue Jackets' Jack Johnson: Bags goal in Sunday's home loss

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(4/3/17) Johnson posted a goal with three blocked shots in Sunday's 3-2 loss against the Capitals.

Johnson has managed just 23 points this season, but he is working on a three-game point streak with two goals and an assist. He has managed a solid plus-21 rating with 87 hits and 127 blocked shots to help fantasy owners in deeper pools.

Blue Jackets' Jack Johnson: Collects power-play helper

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(3/11/17) Johnson recorded a power-play assist and registered three shots on net during Friday's win over Buffalo.

The veteran defenseman has turned in a respectable fantasy campaign for deep seasonal settings because of his cross-category production. His 18 points don't move the needle, but with 96 shots, 104 blocked shots, 76 hits and a plus-19 rating, Johnson isn't lost on fantasy owners. Just keep expectations in check because he isn't going to pile on the offensive numbers.

Blue Jackets' Jack Johnson: Nets game-winning goal

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(2/25/17) Johnson scored the game-winning goal Saturday in a 7-0 victory over the Islanders. He finished plus-5.

Johnson has never grown into the promise of a third-overall pick, but he's been steady for the Jackets. His offense is thin these days -- JJ now sits with three goals and 17 points in 59 games. But his team counts on him for more than scoring. Unfortunately, that makes Johnson a marginal fantasy play in all but the deepest of formats.

  • April 10, 2015: Jackets' Johnson Collects Two Helpers
Johnson picked up a pair of assists and was a plus-3 in Friday's win over the Sabres. That's three points and a plus-5 rating in two games for Johnson, who is now up to 39 points in 78 games on the season. He's been producing consistently since mid-March and will have a chance to reach the 40-point barrier for the first time since 2010-11 when the Blue Jackets close out their regular season Saturday against the Islanders.
April 2, 2015: Jackets' Johnson Takes Ice For Warmups
Johnson (illness) is on the ice for pregame warmups and appears in line to play Thursday against the Islanders. The illness prevented Johnson from skating in the morning with the rest of the team, but it appears the extra hours off were all he needed to regain health. Barring a late setback in warmups, he'll slot in at his familiar spot on the Jackets' top defensive pairing.
    April 2, 2015: Blue Jackets' Johnson a Game-Time Call
Johnson (illness) is a game-time decision for Thursday's contest against the Islanders, Aaron Portzline of the Columbus Dispatch reports. If Johnson -- who is feeling under the weather -- can't play Thursday night, Justin Falk would be in line to move into the team's lineup for the contest.
April 1, 2015: Jackets' Johnson Nabs Game Winner Tuesday
Johnson supplied the game-winning goal in Tuesday's overtime victory over the Devils. The backhanded tally was Johnson's seventh of the season, which represents his highest total for a season since 2011-12. The blueliner is still sitting on an ugly minus-16 rating, but with three points in his last four games -- all of which have been Columbus victories -- he should make for a solid activation.
March 31, 2015: Johnson's OT goal lifts Blue Jackets over Devils 3-2
COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) After a season filled with injuries, the Columbus Blue Jackets are getting healthy. And, apparently, more resilient.
