Fantasy Analysis

It's encouraging to see Johnson back up on skates several months after messing up his knee and it would be a real boost to his Fantasy value heading into 2009-10 if he made a postseason appearance. However, Johnson still has a bright future ahead and St. Louis will try to minimize his exposure to long-term damage. Johnson remains a decent long-term Fantasy keeper and will be an injury-risk selection next season since he is coming off a major injury.

D Erik Johnson, the Blues' (and NHL's) No. 1 overall pick in 2006, is skating with former St. Louis star Al MacInnis at the team's practice facility. Johnson missed the entire season after knee surgery due to a September golf-cart accident. Dr. Mike Stuart, who performed the surgery, said Johnson should have no problem being ready to play in September, but cautioned that many athletes say "it doesn't really feel like they've completely recovered until their second season back." 52/8/2009
