Glass watches opener from press box: The Sports Xchange reports RW Tanner Glass started the season watching the Canucks' 5-3 loss in Calgary from the press box on Thursday, but he was still on the team, something few expected when training camp started. Well, few except Glass himself. "I guess I came in under the radar a bit," said the gritty 25-year-old winger. "I don't think they had many expectations for me, except maybe as a solid minor-leaguer. But I know my ability and I think I can play in the NHL."

Fantasy Analysis
Glass signed as a free agent after playing 44 NHL games -- most of them two years ago -- for Florida. He spent most of last season trying to play through a serious shoulder injury suffered in the AHL. After being cut loose by the Panthers, he was signed by the Canucks on the second day of free agency. Vancouver had been following him and had a high opinion of the Panthers' 265th pick in 2003. Now he's showing why. "Without a doubt he's been one of the guys who's stood out the most throughout the whole camp," coach Alain Vigneault said of Glass, who has also shown a very accurate wrist shot. "He plays with a lot of energy, he's physical and he's found a way to contribute offensively." Unfortunately, Glass isn't logging regular minutes and not worth holding onto in Fantasy.
