  • Beech feeling good as camp opens
    (9/20/08) The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports that Penguins C Kris Beech spent the second half of last season and most of the summer recovering from a broken right wrist. Beech suffered the injury in February and said his wrist started to feel at 100 percent in August. He hopes to increase his role in 2008-09. "My days of trying to play GM are over," Beech said. "That's not how I think. I'm doing my best out there, and that's all I can control."
    Penguins sign three fringe forwards
    (7/15/08) The Pittsburgh Penguins signed forwards Kris Beech, Ryan Stone and Bill Thomas to one-year contracts on Tuesday. The 27-year-old Beech was claimed off waivers from Columbus in January. He had five goals and six assists in 25 games with the Blue Jackets and Penguins before a broken wrist ended his season on Feb. 14. The 23-year-old Stone played six games with the Penguins last season during three call-ups from the Penguins' American Hockey League team. Thomas, who played seven games for the Phoenix Coyotes last season, spent most of last season with San Antonio of the AHL.
    Beech plays in first game since Feb.
    (4/6/08) Penguins C Kris Beech played in his first game since mid-February on Sunday against the Flyers. Beech had been out indefinitely after breaking his wrist Feb. 14. Beech did not record a point in 8:39 Sunday and finished at minus-2.
    Beech out with broken wrist
    (2/15/08) Pittsburgh Penguins center Kris Beech was placed on injured reserve Friday with a broken right wrist and will be out indefinitely. To fill Beech's spot on the roster, the Penguins recalled forwards Connor James and Chris Minard from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the American Hockey League. Defenseman Alex Goligoski was returned to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. Beech, who played only four games since returning to the Penguins last month, was injured while being checked into the boards by Carolina defenseman Glen Wesley on Thursday night.
    Beech a healthy scratch Wednesday
    (2/14/08) The Sports Xchange reports Penguins C Kris Beech was a healthy scratch against Boston Wednesday. Beech has appeared in only three games since he was claimed off waivers on Jan. 26. He has yet to record a point. Rookie defenseman Alex Goligoski appeared in his first NHL game as the Penguins dressed only 11 forwards.
  • September 23, 2008: Forward Beech among 13 players sent to minors by Penguins
    Kris Beech, a forward acquired by Pittsburgh in a trade for Jaromir Jagr, was among 13 players sent down by the Penguins to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the AHL on Tuesday.
