Leighton out until the playoffs: The Philadelphia Flyers will be without starting goalie Michael Leighton for at least eight weeks because of a high ankle sprain. Leighton was injured Tuesday night in a 4-3 shootout loss at Nashville. An MRI on Thursday revealed the extent of the injury, which will sideline Leighton for the rest of the regular season and at least the opening round of the playoffs. Brian Boucher got the start Thursday night against Dallas. Rookie backup Jeremy Duchesne awaits his NHL debut. Duchesne was called up from Adirondack of the AHL on Wednesday.

Fantasy Analysis

This injury comes at an awful time for the Flyers and Leighton's Fantasy owners. The trade deadline is a thing of the past, so Philly will have to rely on Boucher the rest of the regular season or find someone else off the scrap heap. Leighton can now be dropped in all Fantasy formats, while Boucher is certainly worth a look in deeper leagues. The Flyers TG remains a No. 2 Fantasy option.

An MRI on Thursday revealed the extent of the injury, which will sideline Leighton for the rest of the regular season and at least the opening round of the playoffs. The goalie was starting his 15th straight game and has been exceeding expectations while carrying the load after Ray Emery's season-ending injury. Brian Boucher will likely carry the load with rookie Jeremy Duchesne, who was called up from AHL Adirondack on Wednesday, acting as the backup.
