  • Canucks' Ryan Miller: Still wanted by Canucks brass

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(1:40 pm ET) Canucks GM Jim Benning is confident that he can re-sign Miller, who is a pending unrestricted free agent, the Vancouver Sun reports.

While Benning understands that young players will naturally be involved in the franchise's rebuilding process, he's also made it clear that he wishes to retain veteran defenders like Alex Edler and Chris Tanev -- in addition to Miller, the 2010 Vezina Trophy winner and a guy who currently sits 19th in the history of the NHL with 358 goalie wins between the Sabres, Blues, and Canucks. However, Miller might have to agree to a pay cut after turning in a weak record of 18-29-6 and similarly disappointing peripheral stats (2.80 GAA, .914 save percentage) this past season. The Michigan native is cashing out the balance of an $18 million deal signed with the Canucks ahead of the 2014-15 campaign.

Canucks' Ryan Miller: Yields three scores in loss

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(4/9/17) Miller allowed three goals on 35 shots in a 3-2 loss to the Oilers on Saturday.

Unless Miller also starts the second game of a back-to-back situation on Sunday, he will finish the 2016-17 season having lost nine of his last 10 games, including six in a row. Miller posted a .907 save percentage during that stretch. He also ends the season with a 2.80 GAA, .914 save percentage and 29 losses, which is just one shy of a league high. Clearly, Miller's days as an elite fantasy goaltender are done.

Canucks' Ryan Miller: Starting first of back-to-back games against Oilers

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(4/8/17) Miller will be in the crease Saturday against Edmonton, Ben Kuzma of The Province reports.

This is likely Miller's last start of the season, as the Canucks have consistently alternated goalies in back-to-back matchups. The past month has been tough for the 36-year-old, who has posted a 1-9-2 record with a .908 save percentage in the past 12 games. Saturday's matchup is a good chance to play spoiler for an Edmonton team that is still trying for a Pacific Division title. There's really no current evidence right now to prove that Miller is worthy of a Saturday start, so keeping him out of your starting lineup is the smart choice.

Canucks' Ryan Miller: Beaten by Coyotes

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(4/7/17) Miller stopped 18 of 22 shots in Thursday's 4-3 loss to Arizona.

Miller saw his losing streak climb to six games when a third-period comeback attempt fell just short of erasing a 4-1 deficit. The wheels have come off for the veteran late in the season, as he has allowed at least four goals in six of his past 11 starts while only winning once in that span.

Canucks' Ryan Miller: Tending twine Thursday

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(4/5/17) Miller will protect the cage against the Coyotes on Thursday.

Miller is currently on a five-game losing streak and has dropped 14 of his last 16 appearances. On the year, the netminder has posted an 18-27-6 record with a 2.77 GAA -- not exactly numbers that will have the team brass clamoring to re-sign the 36-year-old in the offseason. Fantasy owners may want to follow suit in dumping the veteran.
