  • Capitals' Taylor Chorney: Will play Wednesday

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(4/20/16) Chorney will be in the lineup Wednesday for Game 4 in Philadelphia, Chuck Gormley of CSN Washington reports.

The 28-year-old is being called upon to help fill the void left by Brooks Orpik (upper body) who will miss at least one game after being knocked out in the second period of Game 3. Chorney has a handful of playoff games under his belt, and is projected to slide in on the third pairing with Dmitry Orlov.

Capitals' Taylor Chorney: Signs two-year extension

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(2/19/16) Chorney signed a two-year, one-way contract extension that carries a cap hit of $800,000 per season Friday, Isabelle Khurshudyan of The Washington Post reports.

The extension is just the second one-way deal that the 28-year-old Chorney has signed during his career. While Brooks Orpik and John Carlson were sidelined with lower-body injuries this season, Chorney stepped in to the lineup and excelled in his role as a sixth defenseman. For all the reliability that Chorney provides Washington's back end with, he won't provide much offensively, having tallied five points (all assists) in 45 games this season.

Capitals' Taylor Chorney: Will play Thursday

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(2/4/16) Chorney (illness) is on the ice for warmups and will return to the lineup Thursday against the Islanders, Mike Vogel of the Capitals' official site reports.

Chorney was considered questionable heading into the contest, but his presence on the ice for warmups indicates he'll be able to give it a go. Barring an odd setback of some kind, there's no reason to believe he shouldn't be good to go moving forward. The blueliner was paired with Dmitry Orlov during line rushes, and will likely serve in the same role for the contest.

Capitals' Taylor Chorney: Battle with flu continues

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(2/4/16) Chorney continues to suffer from flu-like symptoms and is considered "questionable" for Thursday's matchup against the Islanders, Isabelle Khurshudyan of the Washington Post reports.

Chorney had to exit Tueseday's contest early due to the illness, and it appears the defenseman isn't 100 percent quite yet. As a precaution in case Chorney is unable to go, the Capitals have recalled Aaron Ness from AHL Hershey.

Capitals' Taylor Chorney: Leaves in first period Tuesday due to flu

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(2/3/16) Chorney (illness) left early in the first period of Tuesday's 5-2 loss to the Panthers due to flu-like symptoms, Isabelle Khurshudyan of The Washington Post reports.

Chorney had been feeling under-the-weather prior to Tuesday's game and left after logging just 4:34 of ice time. He was absent from Wednesday's practice so his status for Thursday's date with the Islanders is uncertain. He has five assists and a plus-12 rating in 39 games this season.
