  • Maple Leafs' James van Riemsdyk: Stretches streak with three-point night

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(1/8/17) Van Riemsdyk scored an even-strength goal and added two power-play assists in Saturday's 5-3 loss to Montreal.

JVR is riding a five-game, nine-point streak in which he has nine helpers, including five on the PP. Van Riemsdyk has long teased with his silky mitts and speed for his size, but he has largely been an enigma. He's pacing along at a near-70 point, career pace, so now might be the time to trade him in keeper formats. At minimum, toss JVR into the rumor mill to see what you might net back. His value may never be higher.

Maple Leafs' James van Riemsdyk: Stays hot with two helpers against Devils

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(1/7/17) Van Riemsdyk collected two power-play assist during Friday's win over New Jersey.

It was van Riemsdyk's second consecutive two-assist showing, and he has now has six helpers during a four-game point streak. With 13 goals, 30 points and 106 shots through 38 games, the 27-year-old winger is turning in another solid fantasy campaign. There aren't many formats where he isn't worth a roster spot. After all, among all skaters with 500 minutes before Friday's games, van Riemsdyk's 2.85 points and 10.57 shots per 60 minutes ranked 17th and 15th, respectively.

Maple Leafs' James van Riemsdyk: On three-game, four-point streak

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(1/3/17) Van Riemsdyk picked up two assists in Tuesday's 6-5 overtime loss to the Capitals.

He's riding a modest three-game, four-assist streak and has seven points, including six assists, in his last eight games. JVR is chugging along at a 30-goal, 60-point pace in relative obscurity given the production of the Leafs' rookies. Van Riemsdyk is a worthy target for savvy owners seeking a title -- he can likely be had "relatively" cheap.

Maple Leafs' James van Riemsdyk: Scores unassisted, adds helper

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(12/23/16) Van Riemsdyk scored an unassisted goal and handed out a secondary assist in Thursday's 6-0 shellacking of the Avalanche.

His last multi-point game was more than a month ago, all the way back on Nov. 17; back then, JVR was insanely hot, having netted six points in a span of two games. The well dried up between then and Thursday's contest, as the veteran winger managed just five points scattered over a 14-game stretch. He's still a solid fantasy asset, but inconsistency is pretty much the order of the day for a promising but still developing Leafs squad.

Maple Leafs' James van Riemsdyk: Leads team with 20 points

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(12/6/16) Van Riemsdyk heads into action Wednesday leading Toronto with 20 points.

He's playing well and ignoring trade rumors that tie him to a pre-March 1 deadline deal. The Leafs would need to give up something significant to help bolster the blue line and top-scoring Van Riemsdyk fits that profile. Fantasy owners need to leverage a trade well before then, as JVR's fantasy value will drop in another city. Those 20 points are a product of line mate Auston Matthews. JVR is good, but not as good as he's showing right now.
