  • Sabres' Chad Johnson: Stops 31, but stuck with shootout loss

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(2/4/16) Johnson turned aside 31 of 33 shots through 65 minutes Thursday, but gave up the only goal of the shootout in a 3-2 loss to the Bruins.

With Robin Lehner finally back in the fold, Johnson won't likely be needed to make all that many starts down the stretch, but it's nice to see him acquit himself well in this one after he struggled in his final start before the break. He'll most likely see action again next Thursday or Friday, as the Sabres play a back-to-back set those days.

Sabres' Chad Johnson: In goal Thursday

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(2/4/16) Johnson will be between the pipes when the Sabres take the ice to face the Bruins, Bill Hoppe of NHL.com reports.

Johnson was destroyed in his previous outing against the Rangers, allowing five goals on 32 shots. Likely due to it being a back-to-back set, he'll get another shot in goal Thursday as he prepares to face a Bruins club that averaged 2.62 goals per game in January.

Sabres' Chad Johnson: Surrenders five in loss

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(1/25/16) Johnson allowed five goals on 32 shots in Monday's loss to the Rangers.

It was Johnson's first action in a week, and though he started strong at first, the wheels eventually came off as the Rangers poured on four goals in the third period. Despite still looking for his first win, Robin Lehner has looked strong since returning from injury, so Johnson appears to be reduced to limited chances in net.

Sabres' Chad Johnson: Defending crease Monday

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(1/25/16) Johnson will tend the twine on Monday against the Rangers, Paul Hamilton of WGR 550 reports.

Johnson was solid in his last two starts, stopping 59 of 61 total shots in those contests. On the year, the 29-year-old has performed admirably, recording a .920 save percentage and 12 victories in 28 appearances.

Sabres' Chad Johnson: Denies 26 in win

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(1/19/16) Johnson turned aside 26 of 27 shots in Monday's win over the Coyotes.

Arizona has been a surprisingly strong offensive club this season, but Johnson shut them out for the first 48 minutes and was able to hold on toward the end to secure the win. Expected starter Robin Lehner recently returned from an ankle injury, but Johnson is stating his case to continue playing with consecutive wins while allowing just four total goals over his last three starts.
