  • Flames' Chad Johnson: Stands tall in win over Panthers

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(2/25/17) Johnson saved 36 of 38 shots during Friday's win over Florida.

Johnson has only started four of the past 13 games dating back to mid-January, and he's gone 2-2 with a .886 save percentage and 3.47 GAA during that run. It appears that Johnson is clearly behind Brian Elliott on the depth chart, and considering Johnson's game-to-game inconsistency, the backup is likely best reserved to streaming status in most seasonal leagues. Additionally, he's also worth a look as a low-priced flier in daily contests if you can stomach his high-risk, high-reward recent form.

Flames' Chad Johnson: Facing pucks Friday

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(2/24/17) Johnson will be between the posts for Friday night's road game against the Panthers, Derek Wills of Sportsnet 960 reports.

Johnson has not been sharp of late, winning just one game and posting a hideous .822 save percentage over his last five starts. The Flames have been hot recently having won three of their last four, but will face another streaking squad in the Panthers, who had won five in a row prior to dropping a close one to the Oilers on Wednesday and have scored 25 goals over that span.

Flames' Chad Johnson: Yanked in loss

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(2/14/17) Johnson allowed four goals on 23 shots before being pulled in a 5-0 loss to the visiting Coyotes on Monday.

Things have not been going well lately for Johnson, as he's now allowed 16 goals over his last five outings. Through 32 appearances this year, Johnson has a pedestrian 2.55 GAA and .912 save percentage, and hasn't done much lately to earn himself playing time ahead of Brian Elliott in the Flames' crease.

Flames' Chad Johnson: Will start Monday

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(2/13/17) Johnson will be in the crease for Monday's game against Arizona, Pat Steinberg of Sportsnet 960 reports.

The 30-year-old has been middle of the pack this year with a .914 save percentage and 2.48 GAA. The Coyotes rank second to last in the league, averaging 2.25 goals per game, so Johnson and the Flames, who have won four of their last five, have an opportunity to keep playing well.

Flames' Chad Johnson: Impresses in return to blue paint

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(2/8/17) Johnson stopped 31 of 33 shots in Tuesday's shootout victory over the Penguins.

After coughing up a two-goal lead in the third period, Johnson redeemed himself by stopping all three of Pittsburgh's shootout attempts. He'd ridden the bench for four consecutive games following a stretch of three appearances in which he allowed a fantasy-team-destroying 12 goals on 45 shots, so this was a big bounce-back game for the veteran. Nonetheless, he appears to have ceded the No. 1 goalie role back to Brian Elliott -- at least for now.
