  • Maple Leafs' Nazem Kadri: Inks six-year extension

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(4/13/16) Kadri signed a six-year contract extension with the Maple Leafs on Wednesday.

TSN's Bob McKenzie notes that Kadri will earn $4.5 million annually over the six-year extension, which will kick in at the beginning of next season. Despite a subpar team around him, the 2009 first-round pick has still managed to collect a fair number of points (45 in 2015-16). The 25-year-old Kadri will remain at the heart of the Maple Leafs for a while longer, but his point rate likely won't increase until the other bodies on the team improve.

Maple Leafs' Nazem Kadri: Four-game suspension ends season

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(4/4/16) Kadri has been suspended for the final four games of the season for cross-checking Detroit's Luke Glendening on Saturday.

Kadri thus closes out his 2015-16 campaign with 17 goals and 45 points, a mark that should leave him as the Leafs' top scorer when the team's schedule closes out Saturday. The 25-year-old pivot, whose base salary this season was $4,100,000, is now slated to become a restricted free agent this offseason.

Maple Leafs' Nazem Kadri: Meeting with Department of Player Safety

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(4/3/16) Kadri will have a hearing Monday with the NHL Department of Player Safety.

Kadri cross-checked Detroit's Luke Glendening during Saturday's game, exacting revenge after a minor tussle. The hit came away from the puck and was clearly intentional, so Kadri may be looking at a suspension. According to Yahoo! Sports He was suspended four games in March 2015 for an illegal check to the head.

Maple Leafs' Nazem Kadri: Grabs third career hat trick

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(3/29/16) Kadri notched a hat trick -- two on the power play and one on an empty net -- in Tuesday's 5-2 win over Florida.

Kadri recorded his first hat trick of the season and the third of his career. The 25-year-old has struggled with dry spells in March, failing to reach the scoresheet in 11 games while registering three multi-point outings and an assist in another. The total for the month still looks great -- five markers and five apples -- but the inconsistencies must be recognized.

Maple Leafs' Nazem Kadri: Four-point explosion includes overtime winner

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(3/24/16) Kadri racked up a power-play goal in the first period, potted the overtime winner and handed out a pair of power-play assists in Thursday's 6-5 victory over Anaheim.

The pivot entered action with no points in the last six games and no goals in the last 11, but he exploded against a Ducks team that's generally stingy defensively. Kadri's now blown past last season's 39 points (he's up to 41), but this game just highlights the frustration fantasy owners have to feel about Kadri -- these glimpses of his ability are truly enticing, but the long droughts are brutal.
