  • Canucks' Philip Larsen: Reaches deal with Canucks

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(7/1/16) Larsen signed a one-year contract with the Canucks on Friday. The deal is worth $1.025 million.

Canucks general manager Jim Benning issued the following report on Larsen: "Philip is a skilled, right shot defenceman who can anchor a power play. He had a terrific year in the KHL last season and we look forward to him adding offence from the blue line." Larsen is a depth signing for a Canucks team that had a moderate amount of cap space heading into the Friday's signing period.

    Philip Larsen: Dealt to Vancouver

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(2/24/16) The Oilers traded Larsen's rights to Vancouver in exchance for a 2017 fifth-round pick Wednesday, TSN's Darren Dreger reports.

Larsen hasn't played in the NHL since 2013-14, a season in which he tallied 12 points (three goals, nine assists) in 30 games with the Oilers. The former fifth-round pick has spent the last two seasons in the KHL, and has played pretty well over seas, notching 61 points (17 goals, 44 assists) in 108 games. If he's interested in returning to the NHL, the 26-year-old blueliner will likely get a chance to earn a spot on the Canucks' roster in next season's training camp.

  • May 28, 2014: Oilers' Larsen Headed To KHL
Larsen has signed a one-year contract with HC Yugra of the KHL, the Edmonton Journal reports. The 24-year-old Larsen failed to make much of an impact after coming over in a trade with the Stars last summer, notching 12 goals over 30 games. After the Oilers seemed to show little interest in bringing him back for his $1.15 million price tag, Larsen became the third Edmonton blueliner to defect to Russia, following Anton Belov and Denis Grebeshkov.
