Latta (upper body) will return to the lineup Thursday against the Wild, Chuck Gormley of CSN Washington reports.The Capitals are only bringing 12 forwards with them on the trip to Minnesota and seemingly aren't planning on recalling another from AHL Hershey, which confirms that Latta will be fit to suit up Thursday. The fourth liner has missed a little over two weeks with the injury, but checked out fine after practicing the last couple of days.

Latta (upper body) took part in Tuesday's practice, Alex Prewitt of the Washington Post reports.Latta donned a full-contact jersey during the session, but coach Barry Trotz said the team made sure he only took limited contact. He's aiming to return to the lineup for either of the Capitals' two weekend contests, scheduled for Friday versus the Stars and Sunday versus the Bruins.

Latta (upper-body) skated on his own after the Caps' optional practice Saturday morning, Chuck Gormley of CSN Washington reports.Latta left Tuesday's game against Columbus after absorbing a heavy hit from Blue Jackets winger Jared Boll and did not play in Thursday's loss to Minnesota as a result. Although he avoided any major structural damage, Latta is expected to be out of the lineup for Saturday's game, and the team is hopeful of his return some time next week.

The team will likely revisit his progress after the weekend to determine if he'll be fit to play next Wednesday against the Rangers.
