  • Blues' Magnus Paajarvi: Will play Friday

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(4/1/16) Paajarvi (undisclosed) will be in the lineup Friday night against the Bruins, Lou Korac of NHL.com reports.

This seems to be less of a sign that Paajarvi is ready to take on a larger role through his own merit than the Blues simply needing a healthy body in the lineup. Rookie Robby Fabbri (ankle) is reportedly out for 2-to-3 more games, paving the way for Paajarvi to get another look. Between injuries and healthy scratches, Paajarvi's been limited to 43 of a possible 77 contests this season. The inconsistent playing time has made it tough for the Swede to establish any type of offensive rhythm this campaign.

Blues' Magnus Paajarvi: Returns to active lineup

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(3/15/16) Paajarvi was activated in place of Dmitrij Jaskin for Monday night's game against the Flames, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports. He had an assist, three shots on net, and a hit in 11:09 of ice time while skating on a line with Patrik Berglund and David Backes.

"We need that line to be a better line," Blues head coach Ken Hitchcock said. "We're going to try to use 'Bergie' as much as we can at center. Backes has done a great job playing right wing. But we need the line to be a better line. They need to have bigger impact in the game." Whether it's Jaskin or Paajarvi, it doesn't really matter -- the two have combined for 19 points. What will make the line better is the return of Alex Steen from an upper-body injury. Steen has been skating recently and is with the team on its current road trip.

Blues' Magnus Paajarvi: Healthy scratch Sunday

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(3/7/16) Paajarvi was a healthy scratch for Sunday night's game against Minnesota.

The Blues had Jori Lehtera (upper body) returning from a three-game absence, so Paajarvi was the player who lost a spot on the active roster.

Blues' Magnus Paajarvi: Replacing Steen on top line

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(2/22/16) Paajarvi will replace Alex Steen (upper body) on the top line alongside David Backes and Patrik Berglund.

Blues head coach Ken Hitchcock didn't want to disrupt the cohesion of the other lines, so he's tapping Paajarvi, who hasn't been in the active lineup since Feb. 9. The 24-year-old Paajarvi has five points in 36 games this season.

Blues' Magnus Paajarvi: Will return Tuesday

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(2/1/16) Paajarvi (upper body) will return to the lineup Tuesday, Tom Timmermann of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

Paajarvi has been out since mid-January with the upper-body injury, but the 24-year-old Swede's return to the lineup appears just around the corner. The team will need to officially activate him from the disabled list for the contest, but it's already been determined that he'll give it a go, so that will just come as a formality.

  • December 30, 2014: Blues' Paajarvi Clears Waivers
Paajarvi has cleared waivers, TSN's Darren Dreger reports.Paajarvi, who has appeared in just 10 games this season, will likely report to AHL Chicago. If injuries strike the NHL roster later in the season, Paajarvi could get another shot with the big club.
December 29, 2014: Blues Waive Paajarvi
Paajarvi was waived by the Blues on Monday, TSN.ca reports.Paajarvi had served as a healthy scratch for the Blues throughout most of the season, appearing in just 10 games. The team's ample depth at forward might have resulted in minimal opportunities for Paajarvi, but a squad with lesser talent on the wing could deem him worthy of a regular lineup spot. In the event he goes unclaimed on waivers, Paajarvi would likely report to AHL Chicago.
