  • Wild's Alex Stalock: Inks two-year extension

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(2/2/17) Stalock signed a two-year contract extension with the Wild on Thursday. The deal is one-way for 2017-18 and will net him $650,000 for that season. His second year will be a two-way deal in which he will earn the same amount at the NHL level or $300,000 at the AHL level.

Stalock last played in the NHL with San Jose last season, but struggled to find his footing en route to a 2.94 GAA and .884 save percentage over 13 appearances. He failed to earn a roster spot with the Wild out of training camp and has essentially served in an organizational depth role for the franchise this season. Darcy Kuemper will be an unrestricted free agent at the end of 2016-17, potentially opening the door for Stalock to return to the top level in a backup role behind Devan Dubnyk next season.

Wild's Alex Stalock: Placed on waivers Monday

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(10/10/16) Stalock was placed on waivers by the Wild on Monday, Michael Russo of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.

Stalock hung around the league as the Sharks backup for a number of years but never displayed the promise to be a starting netminder. He was dealt to Toronto prior to the trade deadline last season and was subsequently sent to the team's AHL affiliate. Stalock inked a one-year, two-way deal with the Wild in July and appears bound for the team's AHL Iowa affiliate. Devan Dubnyk and Darcy Kuemper remain the two netminders on the Wild roster.

Wild's Alex Stalock: Signs with Minnesota

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(7/1/16) Stalock signed a one-year contract with Minnesota, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.

Stalock signed a two-way deal but will likely server as the third goalie at AHL and not see much time in the NHL barring injuries.

Maple Leafs' Alex Stalock: Cleares waivers Monday

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(2/29/16) Stalock has been reassigned to AHL Toronto after going unclaimed off waivers Monday, James Mirtle of the Globe and Mail reports.

Stalock was recently acquired by the Maple Leafs as part of Saturday's trade that sent James Reimer and Jeremy Morin to the Sharks. It seems the 28-year-old was the odd man out between the posts after Garret Sparks was recalled to backup Jonathan Bernier. The demotion to the minors comes as no surprise given the netminder's poor form this season. In 13 outings with San Jose, including relief appearances, he went 3-5-2 while posting a 2.94 GAA.

Sharks' Alex Stalock: Receives starting nod Thursday

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(2/11/16) Stalock will get the start in goal Thursday against the Flames, Kevin Kurz of CSN Bay Area reports.

Stalock will likely have some rust to shake off in the early goings of Thursday's contest, as he hasn't been between the pipes since Jan. 18, a game in which he allowed three goals on just 17 shots en route to a 4-3 shootout loss to the Senators. The 28-year-old netminder hasn't been great in limited action this season, compiling a 3-5-1 record with a 2.76 GAA and .894 save percentage in 12 appearances. He'll look to pick up his fourth win of the season Thursday in a decent home matchup with a Flames team averaging 2.32 goals per game on the road this season, 22nd in the NHL.

April 3, 2015: Sharks' Stalock Dealing With Illness
Stalock is dealing with an illness, leaving Antti Niemi as the likely starter for Friday's game against the Coyotes, CSN Bay Area's Kevin Kurz reports.Niemi missed the last three games because of an illness, and it's quite possible Stalock is now bothered by the same thing. The Sharks have back-to-back games against the Coyotes this weekend, so Stalock could still be an option for Saturday, if he makes a quicker recovery than Niemi did.
