  • Canadiens' Jeff Petry: Gets assist in OT loss

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(12:30 am ET) Petry picked up an assist Saturday in an overtime loss to Buffalo.

Petry continues on a career pace -- his 23 points are just two from matching his best tally (2011-12). There was some thought that Petry's ice time and output would decline when Andrei Markov returned from injury, but that won't happen anytime soon -- Markov's injury just isn't progressing and he may have had a setback. Petry could come close to 40 points this season.

Canadiens' Jeff Petry: Offense flows Saturday

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(1/8/17) Petry had two assists, four hits, two shots on goal and two blocked shots in 22:27 of ice time in Saturday's 5-3 win over the Maple Leafs.

Petry and Nathan Beaulieu are emerging as a first-rate scoring duo as Montreal's second pair. Petry has 12 points (five goals, seven assists) in the last 13 games while Beaulieu has six points (one goal, five assists) over his last five. The offensive growth in both players will allow coach Michel Therrien to use Andrei Markov (groin) wisely when he returns from injury.

Canadiens' Jeff Petry: Feeling the offense

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(12/23/16) Petry snapped off a game-high seven shots on goal over a season-high 26:37 of ice time in Montreal's 4-2 loss to Minnesota on Thursday.

Petry, who entered the game with four goals, three assists and 18 shots in his previous five games, had already picked up the offensive side of his game due to injuries to Montreal's forward corps. And now with Andrei Markov (lower body) heading to injured reserve, that offense is needed more than ever. With Markov ailing, the 29-year-old Petry has averaged nearly 26 minutes of ice time, including 6:43 on the power play, over the last two games.

Canadiens' Jeff Petry: Erupts for three points

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(12/20/16) Petry lit the lamp, adding two assists -- one on the power play -- and a plus-2 rating during Tuesday's 5-1 win against the Ducks.

Petry has built himself a three-game point streak, but this was his best outing of that short stretch. The blueliner scored in each contest and in four of the last five, showcasing an attacking mindset that hasn't been unleashed during his entire career. Petry's milestone in a season is seven tallies, a number he's already equaled through 31 games.

Canadiens' Jeff Petry: Tallies third goal of week

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(12/17/16) Petry scored for the second straight night in a 2-1 victory over the Capitals on Saturday.

All the sudden, Petry has the scoring touch, as he's scored three goals and four points in the last four games. There last contest where he didn't score, he recorded five shots on goal. That was a season high until Saturday when Petry had six shots on net. He now has six goals and 13 points this season.
