|(6/27/16) The Ducks did not tender a qualifying offer to Pirri on Monday, Eric Stephens of the Orange County Register reports.|
Pirri, Matt Bailey, Martin Gernat, Kevin Gagne and Charlie Sarault were among the Ducks not receiving qualifying offers by Monday's deadline, thus automatically becoming unrestricted free agents. The 25-year-old Pirri swapped his Panthers sweater for Duck threads at the trade deadline last February, though he only ended up dressing for nine regular-season games with the quackers due to an upper-body injury. He was quite effective when he did lace up for Anaheim, scoring three goals to complement a pair of helpers. There's bound to be interest in Pirri on the open market due to his natural ability to find twine. Remember when he potted 22 goals in 49 games with the Panthers? Yeah, that was only two seasons ago.
