  • Hurricanes' Jeff Skinner: Puts up three points against Buffalo

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(1/14/17) Skinner lit the lamp twice, added an assist, and registered six shots on goal against the Sabres on Friday.

That's back-to-back games with three points for Skinner, who's having a great season. He now has 17 goals and 18 assists in 41 games. Just as importantly, he has 149 shots, which is an indication of just how involved he's been offensively this year.

Hurricanes' Jeff Skinner: Explodes for three points in win over Jackets

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(1/11/17) Skinner scored his 15th goal and added two assists (one on an empty-netter) to go with a plus-3 rating en route to a 5-3 win over Columbus on Tuesday.

As was the case for linemate Victor Rask, who also notched three points, Skinner's big night represented his first multi-point output since Dec. 13. The 24-year-old sniper is on track to record his first 60-point campaign since his rookie season of 2010-11, and he should at least come close to scoring 30 goals (something he's already accomplished twice) in the process.

Hurricanes' Jeff Skinner: On pace to match personal career-best

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(1/7/17) Skinner assisted on the Hurricanes' only goal during Friday's loss to the Blackhawks.

The helper was Skinner's second point in as many games, putting the five-game pointless drought he had prior to that firmly in the rearview mirror. Now with 29 points in 38 games, Skinner remains on pace to crack the 60-point barrier for the first time since his career-best rookie campaign back in 2010-11. After several injury-plagued and otherwise unproductive seasons, it looks like Skinner has finally re-established himself as as legitimate top-six NHL scorer. Use him well.

Hurricanes' Jeff Skinner: Hits 13-goal mark for seventh straight season

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(12/22/16) Skinner scored on one of his three shots Thursday in Buffalo.

Skinner opened the scoring with his 13th goal of the season and fourth in the past four games. The 24-year-old winger is on pace to set a new career high with 34 goals, and has now scored at least 13 in each of his first seven professional seasons.

Hurricanes' Jeff Skinner: Strikes twice on power play in three-point night

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(12/14/16) Skinner took seven shots, potted a pair of power-play goals and added an assist in Tuesday's 8-6 win over Vancouver.

With the Hurricanes down 5-2 entering the third period, Skinner wasted little time getting the comeback going -- he scored his second goal just 1:16 into the final frame. Three minutes later, he showed up on the scoresheet again with a helper on Victor Rask's goal. It seems like we never know which version of Skinner will show up in any given season, but he's one of the league's most purely talented shooters and it looks like he's in top form this time around.

  • April 6, 2015: Sean Monahan is the Flames' hope for the future
The Calgary Flames are one of the NHL's biggest surprises this season. If their success is going to go beyond this season forward Sean Monahan is going to be a big part of that.
March 28, 2015: Canes' Skinner: Two Points In Last 10 Games
Skinner picked up an assist Saturday in a win over the Devils. It was just his second point in his last 10 games.Skinner has just 32 points in 69 games this season and has never come close to his brilliant 63-point rookie season. Is he a potential 30-goal scorer or just a marginal fantasy play? Right now -- and sadly -- it's the latter.
