  • Blue Jackets' Sergei Bobrovsky: 42 saves not enough against Canada in semi-finals

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(9/25/16) Bobrovsky turned away 42 of 47 shots in Saturday's semi-final loss to Team Canada at the World Cup of Hockey.

It was a strong outing for Bobrovsky, but it wasn't enough, as Team Canada ended up being too much to handle. While the Russians have been eliminated, Bobrovsky had a fantastic tournament, posting a .930 save percentage. The 28-year-old was a big reason Russia got to the semi-finals and should be on the top of his game when the NHL season begins in a couple of weeks.

Blue Jackets' Sergei Bobrovsky: Shuts out Team Finland on Thursday

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(9/23/16) Bobrovsky pitched a 21-save shutout Thursday in a 3-0 victory over Team Finland.

In a must-win game for Russia to advance to the semifinals against Canada, Goalie Bob didn't disappoint, turning aside everything the Finns sent his way. He's put together quite a pair of performances since dropping the tournament opener to Team Sweden, including his 43-save masterpiece against Team North America. Considering Bobrovsky has started all three games for the Russians and is sporting a gaudy .955 save percentage, he's a lock to get the nod Saturday night against Canada.

Blue Jackets' Sergei Bobrovsky: Gets nod against Finland

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(9/22/16) Bobrovsky will start in goal for Thursday's game against Finland, Mark Spector of Sportsnet reports.

Bobrovsky is coming off a spectacular performance that kept Russia in contention for the World Cup, stopping 43 shots from a high-powered Team North America offense. Continued success in the tournament could be a good omen for Bobrovsky after a down year due to injury in 2015-16.

Blue Jackets' Sergei Bobrovsky: Shines in second World Cup outing

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(9/20/16) Bobrovsky turned away 43 of 46 shots Monday in a 4-3 World Cup win over Team North America.

Bobrovksy allowed a goal in each period, but was outstanding overall and even managed to stone captain Connor McDavid on a breakaway. His performance helped the Russian team avoid a 2-0 deficit in the tournament. The Blue Jackets will be looking forward to seeing a healthy Bobrovsky after chronic groin injuries limited him to 37 games last season.

Blue Jackets' Sergei Bobrovsky: Makes 27 saves in World Cup opener

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(9/19/16) Bobrovsky stopped 27 of 29 shots in Sunday's World Cup opener against Team Sweden.

A strong showing for Bobrovsky, who didn't get much offensive support. The Blue Jackets netminder always seem to shine on the world stage and will be a key cog for Team Russia moving forward. It's possible the team turns to Semyon Varlamov in their next game, but Bobrovsky was solid in the opener, so there doesn't seem to be a reason for them to change things up on the goaltending front.
