  • Flames' Derek Grant: Out Saturday

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(4/8/16) Grant will be forced to sit out Saturday's matchup with Minnesota due to a groin injury, Derek Wills of Sportsnet 960 reports.

Grant will now conclude the season with a single point (an assist) in 15 games for the Flames. The 25-year-old center did make strides at the AHL level though, scoring 27 goals and 45 points in just 36 games. With his large frame, Grant should eventually be able to carve himself a niche in the NHL.

Flames' Derek Grant: Recalled by Flames

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(3/28/16) Grant was summoned by the Flames on Monday, Derek Willis of Sportsnet 960 The FAN reports.

Grant has lit up the AHL ranks this season, amassing 45 points (27 goals, 18 assists) through 36 games this season. Despite being drafted in 2008, Grant is just 25 years of age. He has already seen some action with the Flames this season, but has yet to collect a point through nine games with the parent organization and remains off the fantasy radar in nearly all leagues.

Flames' Derek Grant: Reassigned to AHL Stockton

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(11/16/15) Grant was reassigned to AHL Stockton on Monday.

Grant got an extended stay with the parent club, suiting up in nine games, but failed to make much of an impact as he didn't record a point and sported a minus-3 rating. The 25-year-old will return to the AHL but could come back up should the team find themselves in need of forward depth.

Flames' Derek Grant: Promoted to parent club

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(10/24/15) Grant was called up from AHL Stockton on Saturday, Wes Gilbertson of the Calgary Sun reports.

Grant has a chance to make his NHL season debut Sunday night against the Rangers, as Flames winger Micheal Ferland reportedly needs more time to overcome a lower-body injury. Grant has not played with the parent club since Dec. 1 of 2013.

Sens Sign Grant To Two-Way Contract

(7/1/15) Derek Grant signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Senators on Wednesday, Darren Dreger of TSN reports.
  • September 29, 2014: Sens Reassign Grant
The Senators reassigned Grant to AHL Binghamton on Monday.Grant suited up for 20 games with the Sens in 2013-14, but only managed two assists over that span. With younger players like Curtis Lazar in line for a shot at the NHL, it looks like Grant may have trouble making a significant impact at the NHL level this year.
