  • Hasek calls it quits after 16 years
(6/9/08) Red Wings G Dominik Hasek announced his retirement during a news conference in Detroit on Monday, only days after the Red Wings won the Stanley Cup in six games over Pittsburgh. "Sixteen years is a long time in life that has unfortunately gone by too fast," Hasek said.
    Hasek minutes away from shutout
(4/6/08) Red Wings G Dominik Hasek was mere minutes away from his 82nd career shutout Sunday against the Blackhawks, but rookie Patrick Kane spoiled those hopes with a power-play goal as 2:20 remained on the clock. Hasek still made 26 saves in winning for the fifth time in six outings. He has allowed two or fewer goals in four of those games.

Hasek doesn't miss a beat Sunday
(3/30/08) Red Wings G Dominik Hasek, returning after missing two games because of the flu, stopped 22 shots for his 81st career shutout during a 1-0 overtime win Sunday against the Predators. Hasek has now won his last three starts and has allowed a total of four goals in that span.
Hasek still not ready to play

June 5, 2008: With 11th Cup, Red Wings setting blueprint for rest of NHL
There's no slip up in Game 6. Detroit hoists the 11th Stanley Cup in franchise history and its fourth in 11 years with a 3-2 win in Pittsburgh. This title was three years in the making for the Red Wings, a team able to fight off adversity when it had to, Wes Goldstein says.

June 2, 2008: Rafalski cautions Red Wings on 3-1 lead over Penguins
Hold off on those parade plans. That's the message from Detroit defenseman Brian Rafalski, who knows something about the pressure of finishing off a Stanley Cup championship: He won twice with New Jersey and saw one chance slip away in agonizing fashion.
