  • Coyotes' Louis Domingue: Inks two-year extension

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(6/27/16) Domingue signed a two-year contract extension with the Coyotes on Monday, Sarah McLellan of the Arizona Republic reports.

When veteran backstop Mike Smith went down with a significant core muscle injury last season, Domingue stepped in as a rookie and proved that he belongs in hockey's highest level of competition. In 17 games between Dec. 17 -- his NHL debut -- and the end of January, Domingue posted a 9-5-3 record, 2.31 GAA and .924 save percentage. He had his share of hiccups later in the season and finished with a losing record of (15-18-5), while the GAA ballooned to 2.75. Of course, a suspect Arizona defense didn't help Domingue in his quest to finish strong. Smith is signed with Arizona through the 2018-19, and that leaves Domingue as an adequate No. 2 option whenever the 34-year-old needs a breather.

Coyotes' Louis Domingue: Picks up 15 wins for season

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(4/24/16) Domingue finished the season with 15 wins in 36 starts.

The 24-year-old was forced into extended action when starter Mike Smith went down with an injury in December. Domingue had a very up-and-down season, looking very good at times and struggling at others. He will likely enter camp as Arizona's backup, but will certainly challenge Smith for the starting job.

Coyotes' Louis Domingue: Leaves team temporarily

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(4/6/16) Domingue has left the Coyotes temporarily to attend to a family matter.

It isn't clear how long Domingue's absence will last, but with just two games remaining on Arizona's schedule, the 24-year-old netminder may not get another start in goal in 2015-16. The Coyotes should provide an update on Domingue's status once he's set to rejoin the team.

Coyotes' Louis Domingue: No match for Chicago's offense

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(4/6/16) Domingue was torched for six goals on 32 shots Tuesday, losing 6-2 to the Blackhawks.

Domingue couldn't handle Chicago's seventh-ranked offense, surrendering three power-play goals in the second period to make the score 5-0, essentially ending the game. Arizona has nothing to play for, but at the very least, the netminder will hope to marginally improve his 2.75 GAA and .912 save percentage before season's end.

Coyotes' Louis Domingue: In net Tuesday

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(4/5/16) Domingue will be between the pipes in Tuesday's road matchup with the Blackhawks.

Domingue wasn't great in his last start, surrendering four goals on 20 shots en route to a 5-2 loss to the Flames on March 28. The 24-year-old netminder will look to bounce back Tuesday in a tough road matchup with a surging Chicago club that has won four of its last five games, potting at least three goals in each of those victories.

Domingue stopped 34 of 37 shots but it wasn't enough as the Coyotes fell 3-1 to San Jose on Friday.Domingue was making his fourth start of his career as veteran Mike Smith is tabbed for Saturday's tilt with the same Sharks team. He played well, but ultimately didn't receive enough goal support and failed to earn his second career win. It's unclear at this point whether Domingue will get the nod in any of Arizona's three remaining games after Saturday.
