Boucher retires after 17 seasons: NHL.com reports free agent defenseman Philippe Boucher has decided to retire after 17 years in the NHL. Boucher split the 2008-09 season between Dallas and Pittsburgh, where he helped the Penguins win a Stanley Cup. "I have always admired athletes that have retired as champions and I am humbled to have the chance to count myself among them," Boucher said. "I would like to take this opportunity to thank my teammates, my coaches and the organizations I played with over the years. I am going to miss being with the boys."

Boucher, who entered the NHL in 1992-93 with the Sabres, played 748 NHL games for Buffalo, Los Angeles, Dallas and Pittsburgh. He totaled 94 goals, 300 points and a plus-57 rating. While Boucher won a title in his last season, he did have a few injury-marred seasons toward the end of his career and it really cut into his Fantasy production. Boucher might opt to come out of retirement, but he is still not worth holding onto in Fantasy.
